Jackie Dobrovolny, PhD

Adjunct Professor, University of Colorado Denver, and owner of Triple Play: All Bases Covered.

Email: jdoffice1@comcast.net

Jackie teaches part-time in the ILT program at UC Denver and has an HPT (human performance technology) business called Triple Play. Her past clients include Center for Nursing Excellence, Colorado Community College System, J.D. Edwards, National Cable Television (NCTI), National Indian Gaming Commission, National Park Service, Nurse Family Partnership, Up With People, URS, and Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications (WCET).

A long time ago, in a far-away galaxy, Jackie worked for McDonnell Douglas Corp where she managed a team that supported a computer based instructional development product. One of the best things about that experience was the trips to Australia to support our clients "down under."

Jackie's dissertation focused on how adults learn from self-paced, technology-based corporate training. She was fortunate to be able to replicate that research at the Health Sciences Center, which is now part of UC Denver.

Jackie has been active in the ISPI Front Range Chapter for many years, including serving as president twice. She is a strong advocate of professional development organizations such as ISPI.

Jackie is also a huge Rockies fan and lives with her husband (Ken) and three cats (Chaco, Kiva, and Pumpkin Pie) in Aurora, CO, a suburb east of Denver.

A firm believer that if teaching is boring for the faculty then it certainly is for the students, Brian is motivated by the use of technology to make learning fun and innovative. He does radically cool stuff with video, supports the Adobe Connect System, (web conferencing and online lecture

recording) researches emerging technologies and all kinds of other randomness for CU Online at the University of Colorado Denver. He is a co host of the TechHEds (Technology in Higher Education ) Podcast

Brian is also the Creative Director for RawVoice Inc. A new media company specializing in Podcast/Videocast delivery. RawVoice is the technology behind The Blubrry, Podcaster News and TechPodcasts communities. He also runs the website: Logobot2000.com which serves as a low cost solution to help new media producers with professional branding.

Brian is an avid hockey fan and player who has a passion for music and food.

You can find him in his spare time eating wings and cheering on the Buffalo Sabres.

veFlash to install the Flash Player.

The ILT program and UCD will provide you, free of charge, an Adobe Connect account. Web 2.0 tools, like blogs and del.icio.us, are available on the Web free of charge.

Given that we have 15 students enrolled in IT5660, and the webinar
teams are teams of three, the class will develop a total of five
webinars. The participants in each of these webinars are the students
in this class. So, that means you will be a participant in four
webinars and a presenter in one.

There are tons of Web 2.0 tools so we are in the process of selecting
about eight or nine and then we will ask you to select your favorite
three.  We will then put the teams together based on your
preferences.  The Web 2.0 tools we are currently considering are
listed below.  If there is a Web 2.0 tool you really want to learn
and it is not on the list, please let us know.
* Twitter
* Ning
*Virtual Worlds
* Blogs
* Mogulus
* UTube
* Wiki Media

Part of your preparation for your webinar will be to review one or
more of the recorded webinars presented by students last
semester.  Accordingly, none of the Web 2.0 tools they covered
(GoogleDocs, Second Life, Jing, Moodle, Podcasting, Wikis, Flickr,
Voicethread) are available for you this semester. You will, however,
be able to view as many of the recorded webinars as you want and can
attend the revised version of any of those webinars.  The students in
IT5670 will be presenting their revised webinars this semester so if
you are really interested in one of those Web 2.0 tools, you can
attend the webinar.

We will email you again next week with information about the second
major project in this course, i.e., the EdWeb.

In the mean time, if you have any questions about the course, please
feel free to contact either Brian or me.  Both of our email address
are shown in the header of this message.

Cheers!
Jackie and Brian
